UK-based Reflex Labels is in the midst of a “mega installation” of Mark Andy Performance Series presses. “We have now completed the installation of eight Mark Andy Performance Series presses in 12 months, and there will be more to come,” comments Reflex Labels CEO Ian Kendall, speaking from the company’s headquarters in Mansfield, UK, which houses six of the new presses. The order for all eight presses followed extensive print trials to ensure that the new machines would add the productivity boost that Reflex demanded. According to Kendall, “It was the combination of outstanding print performance from the P-Series and the back-up support that we felt only Mark Andy could offer that clinched the deal, which involved moving 15 presses across four sites within the Group – and it all went without a hitch!” All of the new presses have a 17″ web width, and all but one have 10 UV-flexo print heads, including the new GEW Rhino system, and full roll-mapping provided by AVT. Reflex’s Mansfield site is now totally equipped with Performance Series presses, which according to Production Manager Gavin Barron, makes life very easy and offers a major boost to production flexibility. “As part of the team that carried out the print trials, it was obvious to me why Mark Andy has sold so many P-Series – it’s a consistent performer across all types of work, and is a perfect fit for what we do here at Reflex, where the need is to combine efficiency and high quality so that we stay competitive.” The majority of the work produced at Mansfield is self-adhesive labels, where a typical run length is around 4,000 linear meters. With the business continuing to grow, Kendall is on the lookout for more acquisitions, and is already planning his next investment with Mark Andy in 2016. Currently, the company employs 450 people across all sites, and will hit £70m sales in 2015, with £90m set as next year’s target. “And, I’m confident we have invested in the right presses to take us there,” he concludes.
